Being a military family means we get to live in locations that oftentimes people pay to vacation in – and we get to live there for 1-? years. To make the most of our time there, we often make Bucket Lists specific to that location. In fact, studies have been done over and over showing that if you write down your goals, “you become 42% more likely to achieve your goals and dreams, simply by writing them down on a regular basis.” per the Huffington Post’s summation of a study in 2017. Put them in writing, hang them somewhere you will see them on a regular basis. This MilMom printed out her bucket list and hung it on the closet door with a pen hanging nearby as a reminder to plan out and check off items.
For the month of August, we challenge you to make a bucket list for where you live. It doesn’t have to be lengthy – starting with one place you want to see each month over the next year – that’s achievable!
Over the next week, we will give you three of ours – one for Northern Virginia (for the Quantico/Belvoir/DC belt), one for Southern California and one for New Orleans. Check out these other bucket lists for Monterey and Yuma. These are not the end all be all, these are merely our suggestions for what peaked our interest while we live there. Your stage of life may shape a very different list, but we hope that our lists will spark some interest to create your own.
The next part of the challenge is to get out and check an item or two, or more off your list this month. Can you do it? We think you can! We will be doing the challenge ourselves – exploring new items on our bucket list and sharing all that we learn with you.
What area are you making a bucket list for? What is your goal for bucket list items to visit this month?
