Kids Subscriptions boxes are self-care.
Getting a Kids Night In box is beyond a treat for the children in your life, it is also self-care for yourself. It is a break in planning – everything you need for the activities in the box is included. It is a time for exploration – if you have a reader in your home, they can read the book to themselves or to younger siblings. It can lead to 5 minutes (or more) of calm – the activities in the box provide education and merriment for the children receiving the box. These once a month boxes are anticipated by both the children and the adults. In addition, to the above, the KNI boxes allow for fun for all of us together as a family in the comfort of our home and at our own pace. I can split up the activities to one a night to allow for down time prior to bed after a buddy day, or we can spend an afternoon digging into the boxes. These are seriously a life-saver, and provide benefits during times of solo-parenting or unexpected changes. These are something that are there no matter what is going on in our lives.
April’s box theme was Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, in line with the Earth Day theme. This was a big hit. The Space box last month was amazing, and as usual I am surprised with the unique activities included in this box.
A perfect reminder on the box is that the cardboard is recyclable, like all of the boxes sent. As my school age kiddo noted, “we always recycle them!”
The book this month was on-point – “Don’t Throw That Away”. The lift the flap book provided education on the common items that can be reused or recycled. This spoke to the toddler who promptly grabbed a plastic baby bottle out of recycling and put her markers into it. Seeing in action what they learn is heartwarming. We hadn’t heard of the Little Green book line before, but there are others we want to look at!
A reusable snack bag was included. Right in line with the theme, the snack bag was included. And has since been on many adventures since. Reusable items that are included in the box are mom-approved!
The included snack wasn’t just delicious but eco-friendly! The production facilities are zero-waste with a goal of being climate neutral. Bonus that they donate a percent of their sales to the protection of endangered animals. We hadn’t heard of family-owned Nature’s Path, and it was a fun learning experience and tasty treat.
The activities of sticker game and painting were enjoyed by the toddler and school age child.
The hit of the box was the upcycled toilet paper holder. We have done a lot of toilet paper reuse crafts, but never thought about a bubble blower. The included cupcake scented bubbles were a unique touch! We added our own washi tape to make it unique and personalized. The bubbles do make the toilet paper roll wet, but as it dries it can be reused. And best part, when it disintegrates you can remove the mesh bag, recycle it and make another one!
