May the Fourth be with you! We are a family of Star Wars fans, and it shows, especially on days like May the 4th and Revenge of the 5th. If you are looking for fun, practical and affordable ways to add a little of the galaxy far, far away into your routine for these holidays, look no further!
If you didn’t see our Star Wars Book Must Haves then you must read it. As I said, we love our Star Wars.
Dress Up!
This is necessary for any themed day in our house. Even if we are staying at home, getting dressed sets the tone for the day. So Darth Vader, Leia, Rey and BB-8 set out for the day. Key is making sure it is a comfortable outfit for everyone so it adds to the fun.

Learn to Draw R2D2 and BB-8
This was an amazing opportunity from USO San Diego. I did find a How to Draw BB-8 and How to Draw R2-D2 from Art Hub on YouTube which I was planning to use.
Bonus, yesterday we spent the day turning broken crayons into these amazing Star Wars shaped ones in preparation for drawing. The hard part was that the girls didn’t want to use them because they looked so nice.

Read
Reading is part of our daily activity, and Star Wars day is no different. In addition to reading the menu, and recipes together, we dive into our favorite children’s Star Wars themed books. Reading together as a family is a lot of fun with these books because they are enjoyable for the reader and the listener. The illustrations are pretty fantastic too.
Make Lightsabers
If you have old pool noodles, duct tape and markers, you can make your own Jedi Lightsaber! We did this a few years ago at the May the 4th Event put on by USO Camp Pendleton. The light sabers are still intact and are safely used in Jedi clashes. The foam prevents them from hurting themselves or others, and for the most part, no objects have broken either!
