The USO has a well earned reputation. They are a dependable source of joy and comfort to military members and their families the World over.
Most of us spouses experience the USO through airport lounges and special events. They are staffed with permanent employees and volunteers that genuinely want to support our military members.
Over the past year the USO has established a presence on Camp Pendleton. A small core team of dedicated USO employees pursued their vision to established a USO presence on the base. They saw a geographic gap between the San Diego and Los Angeles USO where there was a major military installation- Camp Pendleton! Over their first year USO Camp Pendleton hosted and supported numerous unit events for Marines, Sailors, and their families. They have worked out of whatever space they can find, often employing their amazing mobile support van to do so.
TODAY they have accomplished a major milestone. They opened the USO Center on Camp Pendleton! The vibe of the opening was much like the center itself: a mixture of 1940s vintage character and SoCal beach vibes.
The permanent center is located on Mainside. It is in the same complex as the Vineyard, Exchange, and Wendy’s. There is always ample parking in the complex and it is conveniently located near a number of other resources of base like the base Movie theater, Bowling Alley, Fisher House hourly drop-in childcare, and ITT office.
We are so glad the USO center has opened on base! We know there was lot of work and dedication to make it happen.
